God has given us an amazing opportunity to impact the lives of some of the neediest children in Togo through an orphan care ministry in the heart of one of the poorest nations in the world.
In a lot of ways, living in Togo is a lot like how it must have been living during the time of Christ. The majority of people here still draw their water from hand-dug wells, and it is not uncommon to see donkeys used to transport goods. Another similarity between life here in Togo and how it was when Christ walked the earth is in how women and children are often treated as less important than men. Jesus shattered these worldviews in His day by elevating the status of women and children as equally valued in God’s eyes as anybody else. We have a great opportunity here to make a difference in Togo by being like Christ and showering these needy children with His love and compassion. In doing so, we will be shining the light of the gospel into a still darkened culture.
“I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me… Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”
